Creative Dating

A word or two on dating in Utah. I got a call from my brother Andrew (second from the right) a couple of weeks ago who said, "um, I am going to ask a girl to homecoming and I have to do it creatively, do you know of anything I could do." I had to index back to the good ol' days at Ricks College. Things like a guy who stopped up the toilet and put ice and a Martinelli's bottle in the toilet with a sign that said "Wait, before you go... go with me to Homecoming."
So Andrew finally decided to do the Hersey kisses on the floor with a sign saying "now that I've kissed the ground you've walked on, will you go to Homecoming with me." (The concept of kssing the ground of women a good one for men, I think) But he asked the girl, and she already has someone ask her,... he asked another girl, and THAT girl already had someone ask her too... so the third girl... bingo!
But here's the clencher... I got another call from my brother a couple days before the dance saying, my date called me to tell me that I have to wear brown, black, and white... what should I wear. Now, THIS is where I think it goes a bit too far... since when do you have to dress the same as your date? Matchy-Smatchy!!! Not only that, but a whole day full of activities leading up to the dance...
That's WAY too complicated... I'm so glad I lived in CA growing up where my prom date just called me on the phone and asked. Some Utahans think "oh, how sad..." but I feel the same about them... that's a lot of useless money spent. Anyone else agree?
