The Lindsey's
There are few things better in life then having good friends, and in my experience it doesn't happen often that your roommates are friends, let alone good friends... or that they both have the same name so you can refer to them in unison with one heartfelt word... I guess I'm just lucky. So this blog is dedicated to why I think the name Lindsey should actually mean "amazing friend and roommate" in the dictionary.Lindsey A.
- She is my trailblazing example of outdoor wizadry. I used to think I was cool until I saw how much gear she had when she moved in and opened my eyes to the wonderful, freakishly yucky water world of canyoneering. Not only that, but having a roommate like her turned all of my "I wish I could just go camping..." statements into reality... and helped me learn enough about nature that I could say... "um is that a flash flood coming?!?!?" and trust myself in the wild.
- She loves animals. It wasn't too long after my ex-fiancee broke things off that Lindsey and I were driving and we somehow started talking about wanting a puppy. Now she has always had an animal growing up, I only had a hamster that died. It was Lindsey, who in our pure pursuit of righteous animal scheming with our landlords and crazy roommates, embraced the fact that one day I brought home a cat and inevitably became "cat woman"... and Lindsey was the one to help me fight that claim by becoming "dog woman"... and completing the circle of life in our apartment.
- She plays instruments... now I used to think that my 15 memorized songs on the piano made me look cool at district meetings, but when you live with a woman who played viola in the white house, plays piano and guitar, and sings like Jewel, suddenly I'm wishing I had stuck to my instrument. Not only that, but she taught me guitar (well a song or two, I was a bad student), and actually thinks that I sing well. One of the few and the proud.
- When I first heard that a drama teacher was moving in... I had to roll my eyes at the prospect of living with anyone who could possibly conjure up more drama than I could create in my sometimes fictitious and very real world. But NO... she is the epitome of amazing when it comes to what she does. I've now seen three productions of hers... and it is simply amazing to see what she can get those high school kids to do. I've now seen Thoroughly Modern Millie on Broadway and at SHS... and it's wasn't far off in caliber. Lindsey is fearless when it comes to making life a musical and embracing that side in each of us that just wants to start dancing and singing. Not only that, but she is a phenomenal singer.. and the only person I know to have voice surgery. (I should've thought of that when I realize that I broke glass when singing). And yes, nearly every night we get some sort of theatrical production. Her husband is going to have so much fun!
- She is the mama bird. It's been a long time since I've lived with someone who checked in on me... but inevitably when I'm not home at a predictable hour, I get a text or a call from Linds. It's really satisfying to know that someone wants to know where I am. Plus, I swear if I'm in some sort of disaster her mommy-radar is enough in check that I won't be in trouble for long.
- Lindsey loves college football... I think the first thing that bonded me to Lindsey was walking downstairs last fall on a Saturday morning to Lindsey watching college football. I've never lived with a girl who loved football like I do... it was a glorious sight to behold. And another thing to add is that she LOVES the Lakers... and she's not even from LA like me... so some mad props to a girl who knows how to "choose the right."
- Lindsey is super silly... before she moved in, Lindsey A and I used to have fun and be silly... but when Lindsey S moved in... it was the completion to our super silaciously silly trio! I can't tell you how many nights I stay up laughing. I owe my future wrinkles around my mouth to her for always making me laugh and smile.
I could keep going, but ultimately, I LOVE being around people who inspire me to be better and "Lindsey" is that element for me in my life. Each of them bring such a different talent to our apartment, but yet there are so many overlaps in interests that we ALWAYS have a blast. I'm still of the persuasion that we all need to marry at the same time to boys that are best friends too so that we can be friends forever. Is it a deal...?

Also, I've always looked up to you and Laura and if I was still nine and taking piano lessons from your mom I would say you just gained major 'coolness' points, I love canyoneering and not a soul I talk to knows what it is, let alone how much fun it can be. You Rock!
