Daffodils

Daffodils that grew right outside my office in DC
Have I ever told you why daffodils are my favorite flower? I lived in NYC for graduate school and while the city has many lures, one thing I found missing was landscape, foliage, or anything that resembled non-cement. I would have to go to Central Park or Riverside Park to refresh my soul. But usually nothing on my daily walk or routine would cause me to see grass, trees, let alone flowers.

One day, while waking home from school in early spring on my normal route, I saw a small daffodil starting to bud. I was overjoyed! To me it was a gift from God. My favorite color was yellow, but in those long months I would wish to be somewhere I could see a beautiful mountain or ocean. When I saw that daffodil, I had renewed hope and I felt like God remembered me. In a way... It was my own "Forget-Me-Not" like Elder Uchtdorf mentioned. God doesn't forget us, He loves us.
