Best Ingredient Ever
I have to start by telling two stories that lead up to this blog entry:
Ok... here's the scoop. I usually never have soda, but the other day I had Henry Weinhard's root beer in a bottle. (I don't know, drinking out of bottles makes me feel a bit dare-devilly, what can I say?) The root beer boasts that their root beer is gourmet... say what? Ya, you heard right, gourmet root beer. So I had to see what one would put in a gourmet root beer and saw the coolest ingredient ever: sassafras extract! (*the last ingredient in the image below) No freakin' wonder this is an award winning beverage, they have managed to capture the spirit of my teenage sassafras and put it in an extract as something that can be consumed! Bravo, genius!!! Also, where can I buy that in bulk?
Afterward: Ok, so I looked up the actually meaning of the word "sassafras," which goes on and on about being a root of some kind which is commonly used as an extract or oil. Na, that can't be right... I still maintain that any word that sounds like the word "sassy" should exemplify the word to it's fullness, I motion to change the dictionary. :)
- Story #1: When I was young the term "sassafras" was used to personify and magnify the word "sass." When I would have a remark about how I felt about doing chores that was "sass"... If I did so with a spirited sassy voice, eye rolls, and hand gestures, in the perfect way teenagers do... it was "sassafras."
- Story #2: Occasionally when I eat my food, I'll read the labels. I like to be aware of what I eat and what's in the product.
