Buble's Lisp
About 6 months ago I switched jobs. When I first got here and realized that everyone has their iPod's plugged in I soon realized it is because when you spend the bulk of your day editing, writing, and publishing... you have to have full concentration. Some would argue that music distracts and I agree when I'm editing I have to have classical music or no music. But when I'm writing or publishing/transforming I like having music to get me in the zone of concentration.
The other day I my iPod was on shuffle songs and all of the sudden Michael Buble's song "I've Got the World On a String" came on. At first it didn't phase me, but all of the sudden my brow started to furrow as I began to ask myself, "does he have a lisp?" The more I listened, the more it was confirmed, and I just started office-cubicle- laughing (where you laugh inwardly and even make the actions and smiles of a real laugh but don't actually laugh out loud).
The best part of this story is that I went home to tell my roommates, and one of them cut me right off and said... "NO, he does NOT have a lisp!" I just walked away figuring that I musta had a bad copy or something. But last night with all of my roommates home and some friends over to visit I played the song for them. We all* started busting out laughing because it DOES sound like he does. (*Well, all except my one roommate)... and the funniest part is that she got so upset at us thinking he had a lisp. I've never seen someone react like that. It was as if we were personally offending her, which wasn't our intention of course. But we are jerks of roommates and friends, because seeing her reaction combined with the lisp that kept getting stronger in the song... got us to the point of rolling on the floor.
Everyone (except for the one) said... "Camille, you need to write a blog about this to see if anyone else agrees!" So that's what I'm doing... I implore everyone to consult their music libraries or copies of the song on the internet to see if you agree. Then, cast your vote... YES or NO.
P.S. My roommate just IMed me to tell me that she started telling her friends at work and before she said which song, they had named the song and totally agreed... SO funny!!!
P.P.S I should state that I'm not coming out against people with lisps, but I'm sure this was not the intention of the song... but more hilarious is people's devotion to Michael. Wow... you have true fans!
