Pray for Jared!

About a week ago I got a call from my brother Jared (in CA), who is getting married in about three weeks. He told me he was calling from the ER and that he couldn't get a hold of anyone else in the family and he needed me to be his point of contact. He apparently had lower back pain and tingling in his legs that was pretty extreme. He has been there ever since because the doctors can't seem to find out what is wrong with him. The have found abnormalities is his spinal column and in his brain. The doctors think it might be Central Nervous System Lymphoma. This is his fianee's latest report:

"Ok, update of the day! Jared had his bone marrow biopsy this morning and it went pretty well and quickly but the doctor said it would feel like Jared was kicked in the butt once the pain medications wore off, haha. The hematologist also gave us some not so good news and told us that Central Nervous System Lymphoma is pretty serious, more serious than we thought, and he thinks Jared is at stage 4 for cancer, which isn't good. However, while the treatment would be intense it is done and we are working with one of the top doctors in this field in northern California. Also, that is just his preliminary diagnosis, they still haven't found anything that can back this up, which is the reason for all of the tests. Jared's doing pretty okay but feeling not too good from the spinal tap he had on Sunday. He can lay fine and stand fine but whenever he tries to sit up he gets a headache and feels lightheaded so he can't really sit right now. The main neurologist is putting him on an IV tonight so he can get his strength up. Unfortunately he has to have another spinal tap tomorrow and they are going to send the fluid to the Stanford Medical Center (about 20 minutes away) to do another type of specialized test.

Today he also had an ophthalmologist check his eyes to see if they could find any lymphoma in his eyes (apparently they can check that way sometimes)and they didn't find any there, which is good. They are saying that he should be released by Friday so hopefully that will really happen so he could go home and relax a little bit! We are still kind of waiting cause there is no definite answer as to what he has or what we are dealing with and therefore we don't know what the treatment will be. We feel pretty confident that whatever the diagnosis, we will get through it and things will work out!! We continue to be so grateful for your thoughts and prayers and will keep updating as we learn more."

They have an optimistic outlook, but if this is the case I know things will be quite severe and difficult. If we could all keep him in our prayers that would be great. Thanks.
